2020 Spring Semester Comes with Online Teaching and Learning

 In view of the novel coronavirus outbreak, the start of the spring semester in 2020 will be determined according to the arrangements by the Ministry of Education and Beijing Municipality, and all students have been advised to postpone their return to the university until further notice. Beihang University is implementing a series of measures to ensure minimized disruption to teaching and learning amid the epidemic. Before the students are allowed to return, various online methods are employed to help the students accomplish learning tasks and conduct research during this period and switch back to the normal mode smoothly when they go back to the university.

Theory courses will be taught online from February 24 and follow the original teaching schedule after the students return to school. The theory part of experimental courses will also be taught online, while the experiments will be conducted after the return. Teachers will guide the students to study with multiple educational platforms or teaching channels including live streaming, recorded courses, MOOC, Beihang Course Center and WeChat. The students need to pay attention to the way the courses are taught and the further notice from the Office of Academic Affairs timely. At present, they can communicate with each other and their instructors to meet the conditions required for online learning. Anyone who cannot satisfy the online learning requirements should contact the instructors or the teachers of the school’s Office of Academic Affairs in time.

In order to facilitate academic research amid the coronavirus outbreak, various online resources from providers like IEEE, Elsevier, CNKI, Wanfang Data are available to all Beihang members at home. The first is to use Beihang VPN (accessed from the official website of Beihang University and Beihang Library or http://vpn.buaa.edu.cn or https://e.buaa.edu.cn) to visit the website of Beihang Library. In this way, all the electronic resources of the library are available to faculty members and students online. Besides, some databases and e-journals can be accessed from outside the campus without VPN by registering individual accounts or using Beihang login credentials. The students can also take advantage of free online educational or academic services offered to the public.
