The gold award competition of the 2022 China International College Students’ “Internet+” Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition has just come to an end. Beihang students won three golds, one silver and five bronzes, of which all gold awards were claimed by undergraduates, making Beihang University rank the first nationwide in terms of the number of gold awards in the Undergraduate Category.
The project “Micro-Nano Science and Technology: Magnetic Field Control Technology to Tackle Targeted Medical Treatment” of the Emerging Project Category was selected as one of the top four projects in China out of 3.4 million entries and entered the championship competition, and thus Beihang University also achieved a record of four entries into the championship competition in eight years, winning a total of 12 gold awards in the main track of high education.
In this year’s competition, “Na Bo Science and Technology Micro-Nano Robot System: A Revolutionary in the Field of Targeted Tumor Treatment” won the gold award in the undergraduate Creativity Category; “Micro-Nano Science and Technology: Magnetic Field Control Technology to Tackle Targeted Medical Treatment” won the gold award in the undergraduate Emerging Project Category; and “Flying Tiger - Medical Intelligent Air Vehicle and Air Ambulance Developer” won the gold award in the undergraduate Rising Project Category. Beihang was also the only university nationwide to win gold awards in all categories for undergraduates.
The 8th China International College Students’ “Internet+” Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition was sponsored by 12 ministries and commissions including the Ministry of Education as well as Chongqing Municipal People’s Government, and organized by Chongqing University. After eight years of development, the “Internet+” competition has become a brand for both China’s and the world’s innovation and entrepreneurship education, and a brand for the deep integration of industry and education. A total of 3.4 million entries and 14.5 million participants from 4,554 colleges and universities in 108 countries and regions have registered for this year’s competition, which marks the first time for its number of participants to exceed 10 million, making it a vast global stage for young people to practice innovation and entrepreneurship.
Beihang has attached great importance to this year’s competition. The university leadership presided over the preparation work, and the Youth League Committee was specifically responsible for it. With the strong support from Institute of Science and Technology, Department of Academic Affairs, Alumni Affairs and Development Department, Beihang Holdings Co., Ltd, Sino-French Engineer School/School of General Engineering and all other schools, Beihang University excelled in all the matches and continued its excellent performance in the “Internet+” Competition after one year of preparation, overcoming difficulties during the pandemic, exploring quality projects through multiple channels and optimizing them from varied perspectives.
Beihang will continue to polish and strengthen the projects that have advanced to the championship competition to be held at Chongqing University and compete for the top prize there. In the future, the university will continue to implement the talent cultivation strategy and use competitions like the “Internet+” as a medium to further explore the talent cultivation mechanism. By doing so, Beihang expects to see more students participate in innovation and entrepreneurship practice and training, and their relevant abilities exercised and elevated.
