On the afternoon of March 15, a meeting to promote the high-quality development of international cooperation was held on Shahe Campus. President Wang Yunpeng, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee Yang Lijun, Vice Presidents Zhao Weisheng and Lyu Jinhu attended the meeting. Zhao Weisheng presided over the meeting.
At the meeting, Weng Jingnong, Head of International Relations Department, made a report on the overall situation of promoting the high-quality development of international cooperation of the university. Leaders from relevant schools and research institutes made reports focusing on topics including the construction of international summer school, promotion of international scientific and technological cooperation, implementation of dual-degree joint cultivation project, construction of talent base, international training of top-notch creative talents, high-quality development of Sino-French Engineer School / School of General Engineering, etc.
Wang Yunpeng noted that 2024 is an important year for the university to improve its education quality. The university should fully implement the “Beihang High Quality Development Action Plan for International Cooperation 2024-2030”. Facing the current complex and ever-changing international landscape and based on the current situation and challenges of the university’s international development, all departments and schools should work together to shoulder greater responsibility and foster stronger synergies, and build a system that is led by the university, with schools taking the main responsibility, and teachers and students taking the main role.
In his speech, Wang Yunpeng pointed out three ways to achieve this goal. Firstly, strengthen the top-level design. All departments of the university should improve the overall planning and coordination, and enhance the protection and support for the international exchange and cooperation of various schools; secondly, strengthen the mechanism construction. It is crucial to guide relevant schools to take the main responsibility by virtue of a highly-efficient mechanism covering the whole process with clear accountability; thirdly, strengthen research and innovation. Each school should systematically sort out the clues of its international exchange and cooperation, innovatively carry out the key work, and promote the development of various undertakings of the university by building it into a more internationalized platform.
