Recently, the All-China Federation of Trade Unions held a commendatory ceremony in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing to grant honors to worker models and collectives with outstanding performance. Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress and Chairman of the All-China Federation of Trade Unions Wang Dongming attended the ceremony and delivered a speech. Beihang Professor Wang Jinjun was awarded the “National May 1 Labor Medal”.
Wang Jinjun is currently a professor in the School of Aeronautic Science and Engineering of Beihang University, the head of the Innovative Research Group of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the director of the Key Laboratory of Fluid Mechanics of the Ministry of Education, a member of the Subject Consultative Group of Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council, and a recipient of the Government Special Allowance from the State Council.
Professor Wang Jinjun has long been engaged in the research of aircraft aerodynamics. He focused on the major needs of aerospace vehicle design and invented the high-precision three-dimensional velocity field speedometer, breaking the foreign technology monopoly and tackling the challenges brought by embargo on high-end products to China and restrictions on aircraft service. He proposed a new principle of using controllable vortexes to increase vehicle lift and a new method of flow control, which solved key aerodynamic difficulties in the aerospace field. Wang Jinjun was awarded one second prize of the 2018 State Technological Innovation Award, one first prize of the 2022 Ministry of Education Natural Science Award, and one first prize of the 2017 Ministry of Education Technological Innovation Award (as the most important contributor of these programs). He has published more than 300 journal papers and has been granted over 30 invention patents.
Professor Wang Jinjun has devoted himself to talent cultivation and trained a number of outstanding talents for China’s aerospace field and higher education field. He was awarded the second prize of National Teaching Achievement Award, the first prize of Beijing Higher Education Teaching Achievement Award, and the first Beijing Outstanding Graduate Student Supervisor, etc. He is also the deputy editor-in-chief of five important academic journals at home and abroad, including Experiments in Fluids, Journal of AircraftandTheoretical and Applied Mechanics Letters, and the vice president of Chinese Aerodynamics Research Society.
National May 1 Labour Medal and the title of National Workers Pioneer are the highest honors granted by the All-China Federation of Trade Unions on workers and enterprises, institutions and agencies that have made outstanding contributions to the construction of socialism with Chinese characteristics, aiming to commend the advanced collectives and individuals that have emerged from China’s economic, political, cultural, social, ecological civilization construction as well as Party construction. It vigorously carries forward the spirit of the model worker, the spirit of labor and the spirit of craftsmanship, and inspires each and every one to actively participate in the construction of Chinese modernization.
