From May 25 to 26, the Beijing regional finals of the 2024 National Youth Space Innovation Competition took place at the Xueyuan Road campus of Beihang University. A total of 1,381 students forming 754 teams from over 800 primary and secondary schools in Beijing participated in the event.
The competition was divided into 12 categories, including the Space Creativity Competition (with focuses on manned spaceflight, deep space exploration, and Beidou navigation applications), Space Science Inquiry and Innovation Design and Manned Spaceflight Competitions (Space Station Scientific Experiment Scheme and Device Design as well as Tiangong Dream Contests), and Space Exploration Competitive Events (including Planetary Rover Challenge, Mars Habitat Challenge, Interstellar Rescue Challenge, Interstellar Exploration Challenge, Space Mineral Exploration Challenge, Drone Programming Skills Challenge, and Drone Operation Skills Challenge).
Participants demonstrated a spirit of innovation and practical ability, fully showcasing the interest and passion of Beijing’s youth for space technology.
Beihang has been placing great emphasis on comprehensive talent development across all educational levels. Forty-five teams from the middle and the primary divisions of the Experimental School of Beihang were selected to compete in the finals.
The competition not only ignited enthusiasm for space among the youth and enhanced their scientific innovation capabilities, but also facilitated the dissemination and promotion of space science and technology.
