From June 20 to 23, Vice President Zhao Weisheng led a delegation to Italy and France for a working visit to further expand cooperation with Europe. The delegation visited the Politecnico di Milano and Politecnico di Torino in Italy and other partner institutions of Beihang, and attended the Sino-French Education Development Forum in Paris, France, achieving a number of pragmatic results.

At Politecnico di Milano, Zhao Weisheng and his delegation met with Giuliano Noci, Vice-Rector for China, Enrico Zio, Rector's Delegate and Beihang Visiting Professor, and Franco Bernelli Zazzera, Delegate of the School of Industrial and Information Engineering for International Cooperations. The two sides exchanged views and discussed on issues including expanding master and doctoral degree programmes, focusing on the Hangzhou International Campus to carry out further cooperation, and strengthening inter-university exchanges and visits, reaching a number of important consensus.
Exchange with professors from Politecnico di Milano
At Politecnico di Torino, Zhao Weisheng and his delegation met with Stefano Zucca, Vice Rector for Human and Economic Resources and Professor of Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, Marco Gherlone, Coordinator of the Ph.D. Program in Aerospace Engineering, and Marco Begani, Domain Expert for Relations with China. The two sides held in-depth discussions on the establishment of doctoral dual-degree programmes, the expansion of joint laboratory cooperation, and the strengthening of cooperation in aerospace, mechanical engineering, automation and other key areas.

During their stay in France, Zhao Weisheng and his delegation attended the first Sino-French Education Development Forum co-organised by the ministries of education of the two countries, and the Forum on Digital Economy, Industrial Transformation and Engineering Education co-organised by Beihang and Groupe des Écoles Centrale, and had friendly exchanges with the heads of key partner institutions in France.
During the visit, Zhao Weisheng also visited some students of Beihang who are studying in Italy and France, learned about their study and life there, and listened to their opinions and suggestions on the international talent cultivation programme.
Visiting the Historical Archives with Beihang students enrolled in dual-degree programmes in Politecnico di Milano
The visit is an important initiative to implement Beihang’s UPS international development strategy and optimize the layout of cooperation with Europe, which further consolidates and expands Beihang’s partnership with first-class universities in Italy and France, and lays a foundation for the university to comprehensively deepen the inter-university cooperation, expand the dual-degree program, and push forward the high-quality development of Hangzhou International Campus.
