On the afternoon of October 9, the renowned Chinese soprano Ruan Yuqun from China National Opera House was invited to deliver an aesthetic education lecture at Beihang University, attracting over 400 faculty members and students. Ruan Yuqun is a National Class One Performer, recipient of the Wenhua Award (the highest performance award conferred by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism), and winner of the Cultural Masters and “Four Batches of Talents” Award from the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee. The event was moderated by Song Zehui, Deputy Director of the Aesthetic Education Center.
Ruan Yuqun began her lecture by sharing key moments from her personal experience of studying and performing opera, expressing her deep passion and ongoing dedication to the art form. She encouraged students to boldly pursue their dreams and maintain a positive attitude, especially in the face of challenges, while always keeping a strong desire to learn.
During the lecture, Ruan Yuqun explained the fundamental concepts of opera, introducing prominent composers and discussing in detail 13 frequently performed operas, as well as other notable works by composers such as Richard Wagner and Pyotr Tchaikovsky. She then highlighted Chinese opera, including renowned productions like The White-Haired Girl and Jiang Jie, and pointed out that music transcends borders and serves as a universal language.
The Aesthetic Education Lecture Series at Beihang University aims to guide students into the world of art, enhancing their ability to perceive beauty and cultivating their virtues.
