On October 16, the Beihang AERO Formula Racing Team held a ceremony at the Xueyuan Road Campus to celebrate its 15th anniversary and unveiled its latest race car. Branch venues were set up at the Shahe Campus and the Hangzhou International Campus.
The event was attended by Beihang President Wang Yunpeng, Deputy Secretary General of the China Society of Automotive Engineers Zhan Jingjing, Beihang Vice Presidents Zhao Weisheng and Deng Yi, as well as leaders from the Department of Student Affairs, the Department of Academic Affairs, the Communist Youth League Committee, and the Student Center. Representatives from Hangzhou International Innovation Institute and the School of Transportation Science and Engineering, Beihang alumnus and Chairman of Ninebot Gao Lufeng, representatives of student racing teams from other universities, as well as current and former members of the Beihang AERO Formula Racing Team, witnessed this remarkable event together.
Team captain Wu Yijie shared the team’s latest achievements in technological innovation, with emphasis on the design and innovation highlights of the new car in 2024 season. He also introduced the background of the newly established formula studio and the practice team, showcasing the team’s commitment to advancing both technical innovation and talent development.
During the ceremony, Wang Yunpeng, Zhan Jingjing, and Deng Yi jointly unveiled the 2024 season’s new race car. With its unique design concept, outstanding performance metrics, and eye-catching appearance, the car captivated the audience, signaling a promising new chapter for the team as they set their sights on even greater achievements in the coming year.
Wang Yunpeng congratulated the team on its 15-year journey, expressing his heartfelt thanks to the guests for their support and to the broader community for its contribution to the team’s development. He noted that Beihang is committed to fostering talent for the nation, continuously improving its education system by integrating scientific research with teaching, and empowering students to innovate. He encouraged the team members to further enhance their skills in technological innovation, engineering practice, teamwork, and organizational management, and wished the team to continue achieving success in their future endeavors.
Zhan Jingjing also congratulated the team on its 15th anniversary. She hoped that the Beihang AERO Formula Racing Team would continue to pursue innovation and explore new frontiers. She said that the Formula Student Combustion China, now in its 15th year, is a key platform for nurturing automotive talent for the industry. The competition will continue to evolve, offering new events and opportunities for participants to showcase their abilities on a broader stage.
During the ceremony, Deng Yi presented an honorary sponsor plaque to alumnus Gao Lufeng. Representatives from other university teams, including those from Tsinghua University and Technische Universität Berlin, expressed their support and best wishes for the AERO team.
The Beihang AERO Formula Racing Team has established the formula studio, linking the three campuses and promoting partnerships with student teams from Germany, France, and other countries to drive international growth and innovation in student formula racing. The newly launched practice team will offer specialized lectures to all Beihang students, particularly freshmen. The team will also engage in activities like community outreach, visits to primary and secondary schools, and research on challenges in the new energy vehicle industry, contributing to the future of China’s automotive industry and the broader goal of building a transportation powerhouse.
