On November 23, the 2024 Winter Running Festival officially kicked off at the Shahe Campus of Beihang University, attracting over 3,000 students, faculty and staff members.
The festival featured a variety of races, including a 3-km Fun Run with more than 800 participants, a 9-km Challenge Run with over 1,500 runners, and a 10-km Team Relay with 300 competitors. Supported by 400 dedicated staff members, the event ran seamlessly, highlighting the university’s commitment to fostering a healthy and active lifestyle.
World champion and Winter Olympics silver medalist Zhang Hao made a special appearance, inspiring participants with his achievements and leading a lively warm-up session alongside Beihang instructor Wang Yujia. The well-organized event included hydration and medical aid stations along the way, with volunteers and pacers providing crucial guidance and encouragement.
The Team Relay was a standout event, emphasizing teamwork and coordination as participants executed precise baton exchanges. The Schools of Aeronautic Science and Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, and Flying College emerged as top performers in both overall and relay rankings, demonstrating outstanding athletic prowess and collaboration.
Concluding with enthusiastic applause and camaraderie, the festival underscored Beihang University’s dedication to excellence and community spirit, leaving a lasting impression as participants look forward to future milestones.
