On the afternoon of January 15, Beihang University held its 2025 Spring Festival Gathering at the Ruxin Conference Center of Xueyuan Road Campus. The gathering brought together nearly 200 guests, including some former university leaders, all current leadership members, academicians, heads of various departments, retired faculty and staff, and student, faculty and staff representatives, to celebrate the Chinese New Year and discuss future development.
Zhao Changlu, Secretary of the Party Committee of Beihang University, extended festive greetings to all faculty, students, alumni, and distinguished guests on behalf of the university’s Party Committee. He emphasized that 2024 marks the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China and a critical year for achieving the goals set in the “14th Five-Year Plan.” Under the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, Beihang deepened its implementation of the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and the Third and Fourth Plenary Sessions of the 20th CPC Central Committee. It achieved significant breakthroughs in relevant fields, continuously improved university-wide educational capabilities, and made steady progress towards the goal of building a world-class university with Chinese characteristics. He attributed these achievements to the collective endeavors of all members, and expressed his heartfelt gratitude and sincere respect to them.
Zhao emphasized that 2025 is the concluding year of the “14th Five-Year Plan” and the planning year for the “15th Five-Year Plan.” All members of the Beihang community should confidently engage in the construction of a world-class university with Chinese characteristics. Efforts will be made to strengthen Party leadership, promote high-quality development, and lead teachers and students to love and honor the university. He expressed hope that everyone would seize opportunities and work diligently toward the goal of a world-class university, contributing to the construction of an education powerhouse and the realization of Chinese-style modernization.
President Wang Yunpeng extended a warm welcome and sincere gratitude to all attendees. He noted that in 2024, the university systematically and effectively advanced reforms across all fronts, showcasing the confidence and determination of the Beihang community to accelerate the new journey towards becoming a first-class university. Over the past year, reform efforts were pragmatic and efficient, governance capacity was enhanced, and remarkable achievements were accomplished, reflecting the unswerving dedication of the Beihang people to pursue excellence. Through years of arduous efforts, Beihang has solidified its position among the leading universities in China.
Looking ahead to 2025, Wang pointed out that it is a crucial year for summarizing the “14th Five-Year Plan,” formulating the “15th Five-Year Plan,” and accelerating the “Double First-Class” initiative in line with the guiding principles of the university’s 17th Party Congress. In the new year, the entire Beihang community should continue to steadfastly uphold Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, remain unwaveringly focused on the goals of the university, and advance the overall improvement of educational capabilities with determination and courage, striving for excellence in key areas.
The celebration also featured performances by retired teachers, staff dance troupes, as well as students from the Beihang Experimental School, the Student Symphony Orchestra, the Student Quyi Troupe, and the Student Folk Orchestra.
