On the eve of the Chinese New Year, Beihang faculty and students made a remarkable appearance at the 2025 CCTV Spring Festival Gala.
Academician Su Donglin, honored as one of the “Most Respectable Teachers” and representing Beihang’s Electromagnetic Compatibility Technology Innovation Teaching Team, was invited to the gala to greet audiences nationwide alongside other distinguished representatives from various sectors.

The Beihang Student Marching Band participated in the “Celebrating the New Year” (in Chinese: Qing • Xin Chun) program at the Chongqing sub-venue, performing the song “Advancing to the New” (in Chinese: Xiang Xin Qian Xing). Fifty Beihang students delivered an impressive performance, marking the first time that the student marching band from Beijing appeared on the Spring Festival Gala.

The program “Advancing to the New” combined songs, dances, acrobatics, marching band performances, and drone shows. It featured singers, industry representatives, and over 1,200 university student performers celebrating the New Year with vibrant performances that expressed their hopes for the future and determination to move forward in the new era.
In Chongqing, the entire performance was carried out exclusively by college students, making it a unique and innovative endeavor. The Beihang Student Marching Band was the only group from outside the province participating. They performed on a semi-circular stage, moving in synchronized formations while playing their instruments, bringing a youthful energy to the audience.

The students faced challenges such as rehearsing on an irregularly shaped stage with varying levels, which required meticulous planning and practice. Despite the difficulties, they remained dedicated, rehearsing up to 10 hours daily, and the rehearsals often lasted well into the early hours of the morning. Their commitment and teamwork were evident throughout the preparation period.

Beihang Student Art Group, comprising eleven teams such as choirs, marching bands, and dance troupes, plays a crucial role in the university’s artistic activities and cultural education. With over 700 members, the group has won numerous prestigious awards both domestically and internationally, showcasing Beihang students’ talents and spirit.
In addition to the CCTV Spring Festival Gala, Beihang students will also be featured in other celebratory events. The Tap Dance Group will perform at the 2025 Beijing TV Spring Festival Gala, and the Choir will grace the stage of the 2025 CCTV New Year’s Animation Night.
Through these performances, Beihang students not only bring joy and excitement to the audience but also exemplify the spirit of unity, perseverance, and excellence that defines their university.
