CLEC Delegation Visits Beihang for Research and Exchange

On the afternoon of March 26, a delegation led by Yu Yunfeng, Director of the Center for Language Education and Cooperation (CLEC) of the Ministry of Education, and Jing Wei, Deputy Director of CLEC, visited Beihang University for a research and exchange on the theme of “Promoting the Development of an Education Powerhouse and Advancing the Digitalization and Intelligence of International Chinese Education.” Beihang President Wang Yunpeng and Vice President Liu Shuchun, among others, attended the event.

President Wang Yunpeng warmly welcomed the CLEC delegation and expressed sincere gratitude for the center’s long-term guidance and support. He highlighted Beihang’s achievements in international exchanges and cooperation, particularly in international Chinese education. He stated that Beihang will further integrate resources, leverage its strengths in information science, and promote the construction of a digital and intelligent teaching system for international Chinese education, contributing to its high-quality development.

Director Yu Yunfeng highly praised Beihang’s significant contributions to the advancement of international Chinese education. He hoped Beihang would continue to harness its expertise in artificial intelligence (AI) and explore new frontiers in AI-empowered international Chinese education, contributing to the global development of international Chinese education, the restructuring of education systems, and the innovation of teaching models.

Both sides had in-depth discussions on promoting high-level opening-up in education, supporting Chinese enterprises in going global, and driving the high-quality development of education through digital and intelligent transformation.

Following the meeting, the CLEC delegation visited the State Key Laboratory of Virtual Reality Technology and Systems at Beihang University and exchanged views with laboratory leaders on the potential applications of VR technology in international Chinese education and cultural experiences.

During the research and exchange session, Vice President Liu Shuchun provided an overview of Beihang’s recent developments and achievements. Deputy Director Jing Wei illustrated CLEC’s key initiatives aimed at advancing the high-quality development of international Chinese education. Wang Yong, Director of the Sinology Department at CLEC, and Weng Jingnong, Director of the International Relations Department at Beihang, respectively introduced the latest developments in the digitalization and intelligence of international Chinese education.

The event also featured a thematic seminar on “AI Empowering the Digital and Intelligent Development of International Chinese Education.” Associate Professor Sun Leilei from the School of Computer Science and Engineering gave a presentation on the connotations and development trends of AI technology. Professor Zhu Haogang detailed the background, technical innovations, and future application prospects of the “Xiaohang” AI assistant project. Associate Professors Huang Jian and Li Ying demonstrated the practical applications and effectiveness of “Xiaohang” in supporting learning, research, and campus management. The participants engaged in comprehensive and in-depth discussions, exchanging ideas and experiences to foster mutual learning and development.

This research and exchange activity, grounded in the contemporary context of the digitalization and intelligence of international Chinese education, facilitated extensive and meaningful discussions. In the future, both sides will continue to deepen their collaboration, working together to contribute to the development of an education powerhouse.
