The School of Chemistry at Beihang University aims to "build a world-class chemistry school with aerospace characteristics." It adheres to the concept of "strengthening the foundation, highlighting practice, focusing on quality, and pursuing innovation" to cultivate innovative talents with interdisciplinary backgrounds. The School boasts the Key Laboratory of Bio-inspired Smart Interfacial Science and Technology of the Ministry of Education, Beijing Future Technology Institute of Bionic Interface Science, Beijing Key Laboratory of Bio-inspired Energy Materials and Devices, and Demonstration Center for Chemistry Experimental Teaching of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

Study
The School is committed to cultivating top-notch chemical talents who are dedicated to aerospace, pragmatic and innovative, and confident and responsible. It features three undergraduate majors: Chemistry, Applied Chemistry, and Chemical Biology. Among them, Chemistry was selected into the national "Strengthening Basic Discipline Plan" in 2020, recognized as a national first-class program in 2021, and included in the Ministry of Education's Top Students Training Plan 2.0 for Basic Disciplines in 2021. In 2022, the country's first dual degree program in "Chemistry-Energy and Power Engineering" was established. Applied Chemistry has been approved as a first-class undergraduate program in Beijing. The School promotes a "Chemistry +" full-chain training model to advance undergraduate-doctoral integration, full-process mentor, and integration of science and education, yielding three grand prizes in the national "Challenge Cup."
Faculty
Currently, the School has a total of 96 faculty and staff members, including 64 full-time teachers. Among them are one academician, eight national leading talents, and 17 national young talents, with over 90% having overseas experience.
Research
To serve the country's major strategic needs, the School focuses on fundamental scientific issues, covering four dominant research directions with aerospace characteristics: Bionic Intelligent Interface Chemistry, Bionic Lightweight High-Strength Materials Chemistry, Energy Materials Chemistry, and Efficient and Precise Synthetic Chemistry. The ESI ranking of the chemistry discipline is among the top 1‰ globally.
International Cooperation
The School has nurtured a large number of outstanding graduates for the national aerospace industry and other important enterprises, institutions, government agencies, and scientific research institutes. They mainly engage in production research and development, technical services, and management consulting in the fields of chemistry, materials, energy, and biomedicine. In recent years, more than 80% of undergraduate graduates from the School of Chemistry pursue postgraduate studies at Tsinghua University, Peking University, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the University of California, Berkeley, Carnegie Mellon University, Nanyang Technological University, the University of Birmingham, and other institutions.
