Founded in 1956, the School of Economics and Management (SEM) at Beihang University is one of the first schools of economics and management established in science and engineering universities in China. It is also among the eight institutions first approved to have the national key discipline of Management Science and Engineering. Equipped with numerous provincial and ministerial key laboratories, the School is a key construction unit under the "211 Project", "985 Project", and "Double First-Class" Initiative. Meanwhile, it serves as the supporting institution for the first batch of national collaborative innovation centers approved under the "2011 Plan" and is one of the high-tech innovation centers in Beijing universities.

The School has recruited 128 full-time faculty and staff members, including 47 full professors, 65 associate professors, and 66 doctoral advisors. Among faculty, there are two Innovation Research Teams supported by National Natural Science Foundation, 11 national-level talents，four Principal Investigator (PIs) of National Key R&D Program，one recipient of Nomination Prize of Young Chinese Scientist，one winner of FuDan Premium Fund of Management，two winners of Beijing Teaching Award，one Beijing moral standard teacher，three recipients of Award for Major Professor of National Excellent Doctoral Dissertations，four recipients of National Excellent Doctoral Dissertation Award，one global highly cited researcher, eight Chinese highly cited researchers and other high-level talents. In recent years, the School has redoubled its efforts in talent introduction and cultivation. A large number of young and middle-aged talents have forged ahead with innovation and stood out, becoming the backbone of the School's teaching and research development.
