School of Marxism

The School of Marxism at Beihang University has a long history dating back to October 1953, when the Political Teaching and Research Office was established at the Beijing Institute of Aeronautics (now Beihang University). Over the years, it evolved into the School of Ideological and Political Theory in 2008 and was renamed the School of Marxism in 2016. In 2019, it was authorized to award doctoral degrees and became one of Beijing's first key Marxist schools. In 2022, it was selected for the Ministry of Education (MOE)'s Special Support Program for Marxist Theory Disciplines.

Study

The School undertakes the teaching of ideological and political theory courses for all undergraduate and postgraduate students at Beihang University. It has established a long-term mechanism to integrate Beihang's "red gene," aerospace aspirations, and inspiring stories into both ideological and professional courses, developing a distinctive approach encapsulated by the principle "Teaching ideological courses with professional relevance and professional courses with ideological insights." By promoting the convergence of ideological education, curriculum development, practical training, and social engagement, the School promotes collaboration and coordinates efforts across multiple dimensions to create a comprehensive framework of "Integrated Ideological and Political Education."

In terms of teaching achievements, the School has made remarkable progress in curriculum development: one of its courses was recognized as a National First-Class Undergraduate Course, one was recognized as a Beijing High-Quality Course, and two teaching plans received the Excellent Teaching Achievement Award in Beijing. Over the past three years, the School has led Beijing universities in both the number and level of awards received in ideological and political teaching competitions, including eight special prizes and ten first prizes. Additionally, the young faculty team for ideological and political education has been honored with the Beihang Youth May Fourth Medal.

In talent cultivation, the School has developed a distinctive educational model characterized by "standardized mechanisms, cutting-edge content, personalized training, and international perspectives." To date, its graduates have positive employment prospects, securing positions in government agencies, enterprises, public institutions, higher education institutions and secondary schools.
