The Bionic Science Research Center, led by Academician Jiang Lei's team at Beihang University, is an interdisciplinary innovation platform focusing on cutting-edge research in bionic materials and interface science. The Center is supported by national strategies and world-class expertise and aims to address critical challenges in aerospace, marine engineering, and defense through original scientific and technological breakthroughs. It has internationally pioneered the novel concept of binary cooperative materials, drawing inspiration from natural systems to elucidate fundamental mechanisms. The research in functional interface materials is recognized as world-leading. The research interests focus on bio-inspired functional mechanical materials, micro/nano fabrication of intelligent interfaces, nanoconfined fluid behavior for optoelectronics and sensing, and functional surfaces for aerospace and marine equipment. The Center boasts a high-level team comprising academicians, professors, and associate professors. It has published numerous research findings in top-tier international academic journals such as Nature, its sub-journals, Science's sub-journals, and has undertaken multiple national major research projects. It promotes global academic exchange and strengthens the disciplines of Beihang including chemistry, materials science, and energy engineering.
