8th China Microelectronics Intelligent Conference convenes in Beijing

The 8th China Microelectronics Intelligent Conference (CMIC 2025), hosted by Beihang University and Beijing Institute of Technology and organized by the China Center for Information Industry Development (CCID), was successfully held in Beijing on November 24.

In her opening address, Zhou Haiyan, a second-level inspector from the Electronic Information Department at the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), emphasized that the integrated circuit (IC) industry serves as the cornerstone of the information technology sector and a vital component of new quality productive forces. She noted that China's IC industry has maintained positive growth in recent years, with steady expansion in scale, continuous development of the workforce, and ongoing optimization of talent structure. Looking ahead, she stressed the need to further deepen industry-education integration, refine the talent development ecosystem, and optimize talent echelon construction to strengthen the talent foundation for the high-quality development of China's IC industry.

Li Hongwei, Chief Engineer of CCID, highlighted that China's IC industry is currently advancing to a higher level, with the focus of talent development shifting from scale expansion to quality enhancement. As the long-term secretariat of the IC Industry-Education Integration Development Alliance, CCID has been deeply engaged in industry talent research and actively promoted the development of intellectual property systems. He expressed CCID's commitment to collaborating with industry and academia to jointly build a new ecosystem for IC talent development, thereby injecting sustained momentum into industrial upgrading.

The conference featured the release ceremony of the China Integrated Circuit Industry Talent Development Report (2024-2025 Edition). Compiled by a dedicated editorial committee, this marks the ninth consecutive year of publishing this influential research, which systematically outlines the supply and demand dynamics of IC talent in China, providing critical insights for talent team construction.

A significant highlight was the launch ceremony for the "AI-Empowered Integrated Circuit Talent Cultivation" initiative. The effort aims to accelerate the deep integration of artificial intelligence with education, establish an AI-enhanced training system for IC professionals, and continuously supply high-level talent to fuel industrial advancement. Additionally, the establishment of the Integrated Circuit Intellectual Property Technology Working Group was announced, alongside the unveiling of the "Chiplet Technology Working Group" and the "Memory Technology Working Group." These groups will focus on patent analysis and foster industry-university-research collaborative innovation.

During the special reports and panel discussions, academicians and scholars from prestigious institutions such as Tsinghua University, Beihang University, and Beijing Institute of Technology, alongside leading industry representatives, engaged in in-depth exchanges on critical topics.

As a premier professional conference in China's semiconductor sector centered on "talent," this year's conference aims to propel the integrated and synergistic development of the IC industry's industrial chain, innovation chain, talent chain, service chain, and capital chain.
