Beihang AI Knowledge Center debuts in Mexico

From December 2 to 4 (local time), the 2025 Global MOOC and Online Education Conference was held at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM). With the theme "Breaking Boundaries and Reshaping Futures: Open and Intelligent Global Education", the conference gathered 180 representatives from 76 renowned universities, online education platforms, international organizations, and government institutions across 34 countries and regions worldwide. Stefania Giannini, UNESCO's assistant director-general for education, delivered a speech at the opening ceremony. The AI Knowledge Center of Beihang University made its debut at the conference's exhibition on the achievements of smart education, garnering widespread attention and acclaim.

The exhibition focused on showcasing cutting-edge practices of well-known universities at home and abroad as well as university-enterprise collaborative talent cultivation. Beihang, together with 21 universities including Tsinghua University, Queen Mary University of London, and the UNAM, as well as 33 cases from 6 enterprises, participated in the exhibition. These cases presented innovative achievements in the current reform of AI-empowered teaching models, optimization of learning experiences, and upgrading of governance systems empowered across multiple dimensions.

The "AI Knowledge Center" project was selected into the 3rd batch of model application scenarios for "AI + Higher Education" by the Ministry of Education (one of 30 cases nationwide). It has been promoted nationwide through the platform of Smart Education of China·Higher Education, becoming a demonstration achievement in advancing the in-depth integration of artificial intelligence and education.

Relying on the AI Knowledge Center, a dual-map integrated talent cultivation model of "Knowledge-Ability" has been established. The multi-level knowledge centers at "University-College-Major" levels, following the logical context of "University → College → Major → Course → Knowledge Point → High-Quality Resources", systematically sort out and integrate the university's knowledge assets, constructing a complete knowledge system. Currently, the center has gathered 18 colleges, 57 majors, and 1,563 courses, integrated 122,048 sets of knowledge relationships and 94,906 teaching resources, forming a structured and visualized knowledge relationship network, laying a solid foundation for the university's talent cultivation and discipline development.

Meanwhile, in accordance with the 11-capability system of engineering education accreditation, the knowledge center clarifies how experiments support the development for professional capabilities, mapping them from top-level requirements, and sorts out the capability cultivation path from capabilities to sub-capabilities to courses. It builds cross-domain connections between the knowledge system and capability map, breaks down the barriers between theoretical teaching and practical training, and provides full-path support for compound talent cultivation. Through the modular design of experimental components, the virtual simulation intelligent teaching platform enables teachers to quickly create personalized simulation experiments, which can be deployed for teaching without programming.

The platform covers the whole-chain learning process of "Virtual Design-Simulation Test-Physical Design-On-site Verification", pioneers a new model of virtual-real collaborative digital textbooks, realizes the organic integration of four types of platforms: "Virtual Reality (VR) Platform, Mixed Reality (MR) Platform, Virtual Simulation Platform, and Physical Platform", promotes the integration of digital whole-chain into the teaching platform, and addresses the challenges posed by inaccessible real scenarios.

Based on the university-wide knowledge system, the knowledge center realizes professional correlation analysis through AI algorithms and data analysis, assisting the university in streamlining and consolidating similar academic programs and facilitating the establishment of interdisciplinary majors. By comparing all course maps under the same major, the center integrates similar courses, reasonably reduces class hours and credits, and systematizes course knowledge maps. It analyzes the overlap and relevanceof knowledge points through clustering algorithms, and assists in the design of new course syllabuses and the integration of homogeneous courses.

In the future, Beihang University will thoroughly implement the national education digitalization initiative, steadily promote the reform of education and teaching empowered by artificial intelligence, gradually improve the first-class digital intelligent teaching resource system, drive the transformation of education models with data, and build a new smart education ecosystem by advancing the precision of educational resources, intelligence of teaching processes, and personalization of student development, so as to cultivate innovative talent equipped for the digital era.
